SpaceX is targeting Thursday, November 5 for a Falcon 9 launch of the United States Space Force’s GPS III Space Vehicle 04 from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The 15-minute launch window opens at 6:24 p.m. EST, 23:24 UTC, and a backup opportunity is available on Friday, November 6 with a 15-minute backup window opening at 6:20 p.m. EST, 23:20 UTC.
Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. The spacecraft will deploy approximately 1 hour and 29 minutes after liftoff.

  • What happens to you that you hacked the channel of a beautiful youtuber named Katie Angel with many followers who love her so much, so much support her and so much help her to live and did you have to hack the channel? You are a patan, if you want a channel to show everything that happens in NASA, create one, you do not have to hack a channel with many followers so that everyone can see what interests you. She is more important than you, she loved her channel, she loved her channel until you took it from her. And why did you take it off? because you think you better than her even though you are not.

  • Thats nice and all, but as a person living in the old world i would prefer to use our own positioning system, but is is pretty rare i turn on GPS in the phone i hate to carry. My friend have a horrible "build in GPS" he can get lost in a closet, me i have a fairly good grasp on where i am and where i am going even in a pitch black forest. Once in a forest at night my friend said " i am so lost" and i was like ????? "dude cant you hear the stream to our left, if you are lost just walk towards it and follow it downstream to where our cars are parked" I swear this smart world i have seen come about thru out my lifetime, well some of it is pretty stupid, and sure as hell not enlightening people.

  • High elliptical orbit? How does it do that?

    Dorel KynastonDorel Kynaston15 dögum síðan
    • @Dorel Kynaston - You’re welcome. Just to be clear, the GPS orbit doesn’t stay elliptical. The GPS satellite will use its own thruster to make burns that raise the perigee until it matches the apogee at 20,200 kilometers. Most satellites are put into a near-circular orbit, but there are many exceptions. For example, the TESS satellite and the Chandra X-Ray Observatory are each in highly elliptical orbits. There is no difference in maintaining an elliptical vs circular orbit. Once the preferred orbit is established, the satellite will maintain it unless acted upon by an external force. Circular, or near-circular, orbits in nature are more the exception than the rule.

      Steve AdamsSteve Adams15 dögum síðan
    • Thank you Steve for explaining this. I wondered if the orbit over the long term would stay elliptical. It sounds like, as you explained, the final orbit long lasting would be circular. There are many space asteroids, etc. that do have elliptical orbits and its amazing that they can do that. I wasn’t aware that any of our satellites maintain an elliptical one. Thanks again.

      Dorel KynastonDorel Kynaston15 dögum síðan
    • That is what the second burn does. The first burn put the vehicle in a circular parking orbit of about 420 kilometers. At 01:03:40 the second stage fires again adding velocity such that the vehicle’s new apogee will be about 20,200 kilometers, while the perigee remains at around 420 kilometers. Over the next several months the GPS space vehicle will do a series of burns to raise its perigee to match its apogee at about 20,200 kilometers. It will then be in its operational, circular orbit.

Undersea cables can not provide the remote sensing data and imagery we get from satellites. Undersea cables can not provide the weather data they we all take for granted. You fell for some bullshit line and got overawed by numbers without any understanding whatsoever. Instead of spending time posting irrelevant garbage on ISpast, spend some time trying to learn about what you are trying, and failing, to criticize.

They will continue to operate the space station, which will require all the launches SpaceX has been providing for that to continue. Also, NASA will likely be launching new Earth observation satellites, and SpaceX will still get most of that business.
